We were staying in Rome over my birthday and I didn’t want to have a big party in Munich. So at first we were only 2 people, my friend and I booked the flight in July – I was randomly asking everyone if they want to go to Rome [ haha ], but no one answered me at first. 2 weeks later another friend told me, he was coming with us and I told him to ask another guy to come with him, since it could be boring for him when just girls where there. So he booked.
And then my best friend and another friend of mine, who I was staying in Barcelona booked a flight too – suddenly we were 6 people. They all didn’t know each other very well so I was excited how this trip will be.
The day we went to Rome didn’t start well for my best friend, there were some problems with her university and she nearly missed her flight with us, but luckily she made it!
When we arrived someone picked us up and drove us to our flat – Rome reminded all of us of Vietnam! It was so awkward, Rome smells like Vietnam, looks like Vietnam and even the noise on the streets is like Vietnam. Of course we liked it somehow, but it wasn’t typically italian for me.
We went to all the Buildings a tourist needs to see and I have to say: It wasn’t what I have expected. The Buildings were amazing and beautiful, but I felt like they were small. The Spanish Steps for example, I thought it would be much bigger, but when we were there it wasn’t very impressive ( I know they are just ‘steps’ but I somehow expected more ). And I thought all the buildings would be in a large place but they were narrowed between other buildings.
What I really really wanted to see was Fontana Di Trevi, but the fountain was under construction and I was very sad about it, but I found another fountain to throw my money in it – I hope it counts to make my wish come true [ hihi ].
On Saturday, my Birthday – we went to the City Center to have dinner in a nice restaurant, when we stepped out of the cab my friends suddenly said, they were leaving now. They wanted me to have a nice evening with my boyfriend and it was the cutest surprise I’ve ever had. I got together with him just before we went to Rome ( he was the guy, my male friend asked him if he wanted to come with us to Rome – I didn’t know him before ), so my boyfriend and I walked around the city and had dinner. After that, we met with the others at the Spanish Steps and we went home for having some drinks.
All in all it was a nice trip, Rome isn’t the city I have imagined, but it is not an ugly city or something. I spent my time there with the right people and I was very happy and I think this is the most important thing. It was also my first time ever being on holidays with a boyfriend and it was wonderful 🙂
